SAMR MODEL

In education, technology plays an important role in terms of effectiveness of learning.  Technology opens new doors to education and learning life by offering new chances to educators and learners. Accordingly, new models occur with the development of technology. One of them is SAMR model ,which I will write about.
The SAMR model is one of the methods used to integrate technology into educational environments. It helps teachers to define the tools they can use to innovate in their lessons. The goal of the SAMR model is to help students learn at the highest level. I think SAMR is very helpful tool as long as it is used in a good and effective way. I learned from the video that it consists of four steps, the first two being development and the last two being transformation. In my this blog, I will inform you about SAMR by explaining each of the steps.
Substitution is the first step of integrating technological tools into education.Technology acts as a direct tool substitute, with no functional improvement. The teacher or student replaces any technology they use for education. For example, instead of painting using the student's drawing book, painting using Paint or Bamboo Paper.

The second step is augmentation, where technology acts as a direct tool substitute, with functional improvement. There is a functional improvement, for example: Students complete a test on a computer and send it digitally to their teachers.

In the third step, modification, technology allows for significant task redesign. It refers to the enhancement of interactivity by using all the tools and methods obtained by the enhancement made in the previous step in a creative way. It is a matter of learning in a social environment, by exchanging ideas together. For example: Students share an argument in an article they wrote with pictures, movies and links to the world in a digital environment and individual literacy turns into a social action where ideas and experiences are shared with others.

In last step, redefinition, technology allows for creation of new tasks. In this step, technology redefines education. Students increase their communication with others and become creative. At this stage, homework allows the student to become a teacher somewhere. At the end of the homework, he can inform others and explain that subject. Students can spread their knowledge, feelings and thoughts. They also communicate with others through blogs or various social sites. For example: Visualizing a written composition with a picture and sharing it with the world.

As a conclusion, like everything we do in our daily life, there is always a scheme. Thanks to true and right schemes, the work we do becomes better and more qualified. That is why I think SAMR is necessary in education. I want to use SAMR in my future lessons to make my lessons more enjoyable and memorable.
